9.1. Personnel

A total of 7,208 people were on the TGC-1 payroll at the end of the 2011 fiscal year. The Company’s payroll decreased by 239 people (3.2 %), and the number of process-and-production personnel (PPP) decreased by 221 people (3.0 %).

The change in the payroll has resulted from restructuring (partial reduction of staff of the motor transport division; outsourcing of the area and cleaning services) and excluding the non-industrial staff from structural divisions of TGC-1’s Nevsky Branch.

The average wage of the TGC-1 process-and-production personnel amounted to RUR 44,634 in 2011. Starting from 1 June 2011 wage rates and salaries of TGC-1’s employees have been increased by 6.3 %, and by additional 1.0 % starting from 1 December 2011. Compared to 2010 the average wage of TGC-1’s employees increased by 14.4 % (with indexation in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement of 1 December 2010 to 3.0 %, as well as pay increases to key professionals using allocated funds resulted from optimization of personnel numbers).

TGC-1 supports and encourages the employees’ aspiration for professional development and considers training and education of the personnel as a guarantee of the achievement of the stated business goals.

In 2011, 4,994 employees were trained which equals 70 % of the Company’s payroll, including 1,984 employees who passed skills improvement courses, evaluations training and professional training in the TGC-1's Training Center.

9.2. Environmental Protection

In 2011, various measures for environmental protection were applied in the structural divisions of TGC-1.

In 2011, TGC-1’s pollutant emissions were reduced compared to 2010 by 3,742.04 tons (by 8.7 %) which was mainly due to an increase of Kolsky branch’s Apatitskaya CHPP consumption of coal with lower sulfur content from Kuznetsk and Vorkuta pools, and therefore, it resulted in reduction of sulfur dioxide emissions.

Compared to previous years, the volume of water disposal reduced as a result of commissioning of the circulating process water system, i.e. two 180/MW CCGT units at the Pervomayskaya CHPP.

In 2011, the ecological management system was deployed in all structural divisions of the Nevsky Branch. On 19 December 2011, all structural divisions of the Nevsky Branch obtained the certificates of compliance of the ecological management system with the requirements of the international standard ISO 14000:2004. In 2012, ir is planned to expand the certification to the Kolsky Branch.
