Emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere by JSC TGC-1 in 2011 decreased compared to the previous year to 3,742.04 tonnes (8.7%) due mainly to increased consumption by the Apatitskaya CHPP of the Kolsky branch of coal with a lower sulphur content from the Kuznetsk and Vorkutinskogo basins, and as a result, a reduction in emissions of sulphur dioxide.
Compared with previous years, the amount of water decreased as a result of the commissioning of a reverse technical water supply system – two blocks of PGU-180s at the Pervomaiskaya CHPP.
In 2011, in all subdivisions of the Nevsky branch an environmental management system (EMS) was implemented. On December 19, 2011, all structural divisions of Nevsky received TGC-1 EMS certificates of conformity for meeting the requirements of the international ISO 14001: 2004 standard.
In 2012, it is planned to expand EMS certification to the Kolsky branch.
