Commissioning of the second hydro generating unit at the Iovskaya HPP of TGC-1 began

Installation of the new generating equipment at the Iovskaya HPP of the Niva HPPs Cascade of TGC-1 is completed, and commissioning of the second hydro generating unit and adjustment of all hydro station systems began.

The tests include commissioning of the adjustment and control systems, testing the excitation, protection, and automated control systems.

“When the tests are completed, the complex testing of the hydro generating unit will start: the hydrogenating unit will be loaded and will be operating during 72 hours at the rated load; and then 8 hours at minimum load. Besides, tests for vibration will be made”, - said Andrey Zharnikov, Director of the Niva HPPs Cascade of TGC-1.

Overall retrofit of the Iovskaya HPP comprised complete replacement of the impellers of the hydrogenating units, control and excitation system, protection and automation means have also undergone renovation.

“The first hydro generating unit of the HPP was commissioned after the overhaul in early 2014 and is stably operating with minimum number of failures, - added Andrey Zharnikov. – We expect significant effect resulting from the power plant modernization, i.e. improvement of the HPP operation reliability and more rational use of the water basin”.
