Energy engineers of TGC-1 took out their first patent on technical innovations

TGC-1 registered the first patent on a useful model Controlled Asynchronous Coupling with Permanent Magnets.

The patented useful model represents a mechanical device that allows the transmission of a torque on the drive shaft to the shaft of the rotating mechanism, while smoothly and energy-efficiently controlling the speed and the transmitted torque in the range from 0 to the nominal value. Such regulation is necessary for reliable and energy-efficient control of the performance of pumps, fans and compressors which are widely used in the power sector for public utility facilities and industrial plants.

Now, electric converters of frequency and hydraulic couplings, mainly of foreign production, are used for this. Existing electric frequency converters are technically complex devices requiring additional space for installation. Hydraulic couplings are less energy efficient and contain engine oil, which is potentially dangerous to the environment. The controlled asynchronous coupling with permanent magnets is a domestic development, a simple and reliable mechanical part of the rotating aggregate. In addition, the magnetic coupling has the property that provides a smooth start-up of powerful induction motors.

TGC-1’s Technical Commission has already investigated the manufactured operating model and recommended to create an industrial model. After a comprehensive analysis of the results of pilot production, the magnetic coupling will be ready for widespread use. The use of this invention on an industrial scale will significantly save energy consumption of own needs and increase the reliability of operation of high-power electric motors at the power and industrial plants.
